Slippery Sunglasses Surprise- 適合初級的英語短篇故事

Leo stepped into the small kitchen after morning practice. His dry mouth wanted a cold apple drink from fridge. He pulled the handle, but the door stayed tight shut. Leo tugged harder and a small jar tipped forward suddenly. The jar hit a carton, which bumped a pair of sunglasses. The sunglasses slid across the shelf toward the back corner. They dropped, bounced once, and landed inside the kitchen sink. Cold water splashed upward and soaked Leo’s plain white shirt. He laughed, reached down, and lifted the dripping sunglasses carefully.

Water dripped from frames, making small rings on the steel sink. Under the sink, something shiny caught the flickering ceiling light. Leo bent, wiped the floor, and noticed a silver coin. The coin rested where the sunglasses hit the drain pipe. He pocketed it, closed the stubborn fridge door, and stepped back. Outside, an ice cream cart jingled along the sunny walkway. A sweet jingle reached his ears from the small cart. His feet moved toward the bright painted umbrella without delay. He offered the coin and could buy a chilly mango pop. Sticky juice ran over his fingers while birds circled the cart. Leo licked his thumb and walked toward the playground gate.
