Hidden Medal- 適合初級的英語短篇故事

Leo opened the garage door wide. He wanted to place his model plane on the high shelf. To prepare, he carried a small wooden stool inside. The plan looked simple and safe. He climbed up, but the stool shook under his feet. A tennis ball dropped from the stool pocket onto the floor. The ball rolled, bumped a paint can, and knocked it sideways. Blue paint splashed onto nearby boxes. Leo jumped down quickly to stop the small mess.

He moved the paint can back and wiped the drips. The boxes, now wet, pressed together and formed a firm stack. Leo noticed the fresh height nearby. He stepped onto the boxes and reached the dusty corner. His fingers touched a cool round object. He pulled out an old bronze medal on a ribbon. His eyes widened, yet he placed the plane. The model rested solidly, and the boxes stayed steady beneath him. He climbed down, held the shiny medal, and closed the door.

里奧推開車庫的大門。他想把自己的模型飛機放到高高的架子上。為了準備，他把一張小木凳搬進來。這計畫看起來既簡單又安全。他爬上去，但凳子在腳下搖晃。一顆網球從凳子口袋掉到地板。球滾動，撞到漆桶，把它推倒。藍色油漆濺到旁邊的紙箱。里奧趕緊跳下來收拾小小的混亂。

他把漆桶扶正並擦掉滴下的漆。紙箱因為濕漉漉而緊貼，一起形成一個穩固的墊高。里奧注意到新的高度就在旁邊。他踩上紙箱，伸手到灰塵覆蓋的角落。他的手指摸到一個冰涼的圓形物。拉出來一看，竟是一枚舊銅獎章掛著織帶。他眼睛睜大，但仍把飛機安放好。模型穩穩地停在架上，紙箱也依舊平穩。他跳下來，握著閃亮的獎章，關上了門。
