Mila carried a tiny rover into the school hall. Her eager steps carried it toward the science table. Around her, posters showed the vast surface of mars. A loose wire stuck out near the front edge. When she slid the rover forward, its wheel hit that wire. The wire whipped upward and struck a tall pointer. The pointer tipped, knocking over a cup of glitter. Silver specks rained onto projects along the crowded row.

Students gasped as the glitter settled over every display. Light from the ceiling made the floor sparkle gently. Mila bit her lip and checked her precious rover. Glitter now covered the small wheels in bright rows. A teacher walked closer and laughed at the sparkling scene. She called the accident a lively example of chain reactions. Mila moved the rover under the poster and brushed loose specks. Then she locked the tiny wheels in place.
