Shadow stretched across the cardboard hills when the neighbour’s cat dropped from the fence and landed on the controller. The sudden pressure flipped the joystick, and the rover shot forward at a wild angle. Jonas reached for the device, but the cat’s tail flicked, hitting the boost switch he rarely used. Extra power jolted the motors; tiny wheels bounced over craters and climbed the ramp. Against every calculation, they skidded to a stop exactly beside the flag. Fine sand slowly settled around the metal chassis like soft smoke in twilight. The small rover finally stood on the chalk circle, its antenna steady under cooling light.
