The Splash That Moved the Bag- 適合初級的英語短篇故事

Morning light filled the narrow trail.

Eva carried a small canvas bag down the valley. She wanted clear water from the tall waterfall ahead. The path sloped beside a rough mountain wall of stone. Loose gravel shifted under her boots, but she kept walking. A thin stream ran beside her boots. The sound of falling water grew louder each step.

A quick lizard shot across the trail near her toe. Eva jumped back and dropped the bag on a smooth rock. The bag rolled downhill, bounced, and slipped into the side stream. Water pulled the bag toward the roaring base of the waterfall. Eva ran beside the stream and reached for a hanging branch. Her fingers caught the branch, but the branch bent and cracked. A sudden rush of wings cut the air above the water. A hunting hawk plunged, chasing a silver fish near the surface. The splash pushed a wave that nudged the drifting bag to shore. Eva grabbed the wet bag before it moved again. Pebbles rattled under her feet when she walked back. Spray from the waterfall dotted her cheeks as she filled a bottle. Eva placed the bag over her shoulder.

晨光灑在狹窄的小徑上。

伊娃拿著一個小帆布袋走下山谷。她想從前方高高的瀑布取清水。小徑貼著粗糙的山壁延伸。鬆散的碎石在她靴下滑動，但她繼續前行。一條細細的溪水沿著她的靴邊流動。落水聲一步步變得更響。

一隻迅捷的蜥蜴從她腳尖前衝過。伊娃向後跳，將袋子掉在光滑的岩石上。袋子翻滾下坡，彈跳後滑進旁邊的小溪。水流把袋子拉向瀑布轟鳴的底部。伊娃沿溪奔跑，伸手抓一根懸垂的樹枝。她的手指抓住樹枝，但樹枝彎曲並裂開。突然的翅膀掠過，切開水面上方的空氣。一隻獵食的鷹俯衝，追逐水面附近的銀魚。濺起的水浪推動波浪，把漂流的袋子頂向岸邊。伊娃在袋子再次移動前抓住濕袋。當她走回來時，碎石在腳下喀啦作響。瀑布的水霧點在她臉頰上，讓她得以裝滿水瓶。伊娃把袋子掛回肩上。
