The Flying Jar- 適合初級的英語短篇故事

Light from the noon sun touched the quiet water.

Lena carried a small glass jar to the park lake. She wanted to move three tiny goldfish into wider space. A narrow wooden bridge joined the shore and a grassy island. A round rock pool sat in the middle of it. Lena stepped onto the bridge with care and slow feet. A loose plank cracked under her heel and dropped sideways. The jar shook, and water splashed over the rim quickly. One goldfish jumped inside the moving jar and bumped her hand. Lena froze, but the bridge still wagged after the plank moved.

The jar slipped forward, struck the rail, and flew upward. It landed inside the lake with a loud hollow sound. Orange shapes left the jar and began to swim in circles. Water from the splash pushed Lena backward onto the island grass. Her knees felt wet, yet her eyes watched the clear pool. The pool now held drifting goldfish among small lake leaves. Lena scooped a leaf, guided one fish toward deeper water. The others followed the gentle current without any trouble. She lifted the empty jar and tipped out stray sand. She walked back to shore with the dry jar swinging.

罐子向前滑動，碰到欄杆後飛了起來。它落進湖裡，發出空響。橘色的身影離開罐子，開始繞圈游動。水花擊中莉娜，把她推到島上的草地。她的膝蓋濕了，但目光仍盯著清澈的水池。現在，池中漂著金魚和湖面飄來的小葉子。莉娜撿起一片葉子，引導其中一條魚游向深處。其他魚跟著柔和的水流離開。她提起空罐，抖落裡面的細沙。她帶著晾乾的罐子走回岸邊。
