Nina walks along the alley. Warm air is full here. The sun shines above. She sees a small window. Her feet stop under it. She stands on a brick. Cups rest on a shelf. One cup is big, blue. Steam rises in quiet lines. Birds sing their own language. Nina smells sweet bread. She hears low music inside.

Nina walks to a fence. A round gap sits higher. She cannot reach the gap. A small tin can lies nearby. She moves it under the gap. She climbs and looks through. A kitten rolls in dust. Its tail draws quick circles. Now Nina steps off gently. She reaches an old stone wall. A tiny hole cuts the wall. Light flashes inside the hole. She bends and looks inside. Only her eye looks back. The hole hides a mirror piece. The street stays quiet around her.
