Behind the giraffe house at the zoo, Leo and Mira pushed a square wooden crate toward a narrow service gate. Damp straw rubbed against their shoes, and cool morning light slid across metal rails that still carried last night’s chill. Collaboration showed in the way their shoulders leaned together against the stubborn weight.
