Back at the desk now, he steadied the lens arm and lowered it one careful centimetre. A dull patch of verdigris along the rim flashed emerald under the sunlight, and his thoughts paused with the color. “Light’s shifting again,” Renn murmured from the doorway, the words sliding beneath the creak of the window hinge. Graeme stopped, lifted pencil, and waited until the room’s sounds thinned to a shy hush.
