A white chalk line crossed the park path.

Sara crouched and touched the powder with one finger. Drake held a bright frisbee and watched the line. The line ran toward a wide tree with a thick trunk.

"I can throw next," Drake said, and he stepped forward. Warm sun fell on his arm and the path looked dry. Then fine mist drifted from the fountain and cooled the air. Water tapped the rim of the fountain in light beats. Sunlight returned and warmed the chalky ground near the tree. The mist passed again and tiny drops sat on leaves.

Drake set a pinecone by a root at the trunk. He rolled the frisbee when the ground felt warm and dry. Cool mist reached the path mid-roll and darkened the chalk. The rim picked up white dust and left a pale ring. The disc met a small bump and tilted toward the line. It curved along the damp mark and tapped the pinecone. The cone rolled, and the frisbee touched the trunk with a click. Sara picked up the frisbee and brushed off the rim.
