Story Content
English Original
On the felt tray, three shells wait.
Tara leans on the wood edge.
Her elbows press the smooth grain.
A faded damp ring marks it.
A clean cloth smell is near.
The mother steadies the rinse cup.
A single drop shines on her cuff.
A tiny dried sauce dot sits there.
"The cup is steady," she says.
Tara picks the wide pink ridged shell.
A small drop sits at its rim.
The small folded tag sticks under it.
A messy sand line runs on the tag.
The mother gives Tara the thin cloth.
Tara dabs the wet rim.
The tag comes loose and falls.
A felt square ahead is clear.
Tara sets the shell there.
Two shells click, soft.
Its rim dries pale.
Translation
Tara
Tara
Tara
Tara
