Berry Drop Swirls the Water Around a Pebble -

English 原文
The glass dish sat at the table’s center, with the notebook one hand-length to its right. Theo’s chair stood two steps from the window. On the sill, trays lined up like a small gallery. A red wagon with pebbles rested under the near chair leg. Yolanda sat nearby, and her pencil moved across her own page. Cool glass touched his knuckles, and a faint wet smell rose from the dish. Sun heat warmed the dish’s right edge, and a slow current slid along the rim. Tiny bubbles left the muddy pebble and broke at the surface.
On the notebook margin, he pressed a soft berry and made a dark drop. The juice soaked the paper and spread into a round stain. He drew eager lines around it and set down the hand lens. The paper drank more juice and pulled the bead toward the edge. It gave a small tug on the bead, and the bead crept. The bead reached the corner and hung for a breath. It dropped into the dish with a soft plip. Purple curled through the clear water as a thin thread. The warm current caught it and bent it around the pebble. "It turned by the stone," Yolanda said, her voice low. A pale trail stayed on the page where the drop had left. The stain kept spreading in a thinner ring. In the dish, the thread thinned and still looped along the rim. A small gnat drifted in through the open window and landed on the wet rim. It touched the glass once and lifted off.

Visual: Purple curled through the clear water as a thin thread. Tactile: Cool glass touched his knuckles. Olfactory: A faint wet smell rose from the dish.
Yes. The paper pulled the bead toward the corner, and because it moved to the corner it then dropped into the dish.
Paper was pressed, juice formed a bead, the paper pulled the bead, the bead reached the corner and _____, then it fell into the dish.(請以英文填入空格)
hung for a breath
Yolanda 說 “It turned by the stone.”
She was quietly watching the small movement and noting how the current and the pebble changed the direction of the purple thread; she seemed focused on the little detail of how the water and stone interacted.
1. The berry juice droplet fell into the dish and formed a thin purple thread in the water. 2. A warm current along the dish's rim caught the thread and moved it through the water. 3. As the current carried the thread, it flowed around the pebble and the thread bent toward and around the stone.
Story Discussion - The Glass Dish
故事中提到「a faint wet smell」和「a soft plip」這兩個感官細節。
The faint wet smell suggests the dish and page were damp, creating a quiet, intimate atmosphere. The soft plip is a small, gentle sound that makes the moment feel delicate and slow, focusing attention on the tiny event.
No. The tiny bubbles are small and break at the surface, so they are unlikely to change the larger movement of the purple thread; the warm current and the pebble's position are the main influences.
A small gnat drifted in through the open window and landed on the wet rim. It touched the glass once and _____ ."
lifted off
He seemed curious and focused, excited by the small experiment. He wanted to watch the juice closely, so he drew quick lines and used the hand lens to study the details.
1. Surface tension held the droplet at the corner, keeping it attached for a moment. 2. The paper's pull stretched the bead and reduced its stability. 3. Gravity finally overcame the surface tension and the bead fell into the dish.
Role Play - After the berry bead drops into the dish
- •“Did you see how the drop hesitated at the corner before it fell?”
- •“Why do you think the purple thread bent around the pebble instead of going straight?”

Cultural Connection -
Cultural Connection -
