When the Dishcloth Stuck to the Wet Table -

English 원문
Warm, damp cotton pressed softly against Olwen's small palms that morning inside the steamy laundry room.
She folded a woven dishcloth along the table edge, corners rubbing the waxed wood.
The cloth dragged slightly, its dry surface catching tiny grain lines in the tabletop.
Beside her, Cyrus lifted a soaked towel, water dripping, fabric squeaking against the ceramic basin.
"Heavy one," he laughed, letting the towel slide down and thud into the rinsing tub.
Steam rolled upward, then pooled under the low ceiling, while soap bubbles popped along the rim.
Olwen kept her rhythm, wanting to conserve space on the table by stacking cloths neatly.
Each finished square slid smoother than the one before, polished slightly by earlier folds.
A faint feeling of soap slickness lingered on her fingertips after the eighth cloth.
Suddenly, condensation dripped from the ceiling edge, spotting the wooden table with shining beads.
The damp patches roughened the surface; the next dishcloth snagged, refusing to slide forward.
Olwen tried again, but the cloth barely moved, its cotton gripping the wet grain stubbornly.
Cyrus noticed the struggle and murmured, "Table's turning sticky."
Olwen pinched the corner tighter, then lifted, letting most of the weight rest in air.
Freed from drag, the cloth crossed the patch, landed and stayed flat without extra scrape.
She began to pioneer a new move, pausing before each patch, raising, then gliding smoothly past.
The routine matured into a careful dance: lift, breathe, place, fold, stack.
Water kept falling, forming darker streaks that shone like narrow mirrors across the tabletop.
Soon, one droplet slipped down a hanging sheet and plopped onto the tiled floor.
The impact echoed lightly, and a small puddle spread, catching the edge of Olwen's shoe.
She shifted her foot, hearing a short skid where rubber sole met the wet glaze.
Without stopping the fold in her hands, she nudged the basket to block the drip.
The basket legs rasped over stone, leaving a pale arc of worn dust behind.
She pressed the last cloth flat, creasing corners sharply, and laid it on the stack.
