Noah stepped into the glass atrium of the science museum, where sunlight bounced off hanging models of planets. An arcade cabinet titled "Tiny Robot Uprising" blinked beneath a banner of gears, and the humming screen caught his attention. He had been practising all week, hoping to place his initials on the bright scoreboard. A smooth ebony token, earned from stacking cups in the café, rested in his palm. He slid the coin into the slot, and electronic drums rolled across the hall.

The first round ended quickly; the joystick squeaked, and pixel robots overran his tiny base. If he had known the handle would slip, he would have wrapped tape around it earlier. He wiped his fingers on his jeans and tried again. During the second attempt, a stray glare from the atrium roof hid several danger icons, and a false step cost him another life. A teenager brushed past, jostling Noah’s elbow, and the cabinet shuddered enough to restart the level. His shoulders stiffened, yet he adjusted by moving to the opposite side, where reflections softened.

One last coin clinked inside the machine, but the screen froze. A museum technician noticed the stalled game and uncoupled a cable; two wires re-connected with a click, and bright colours rushed back. Noah tapped “two-player” by accident, and the teenager, now curious, grabbed the second joystick. Their ships zigzagged in tight formation, covering gaps the other missed. Laser bursts filled the sky, and the final robot boss cracked apart like glass. When silence returned, both sets of initials slid upward, topping the list by a single point. The glowing score panel rested above their joined initials.
