Sara placed her folding stool near a rolling pasture at noon. She has visited this bright corner before. Today she aimed to paint a delightful scene with the quick sparrow beside the fence. The sun warmed her shoulders while thin wind tugged at the canvas. A stronger gust arrived. The canvas was nearly torn from her fingers, and her sketchbook flipped backward. At the same moment, the sparrow that had been pecking seeds leapt into the high grass. It vanished toward the wilderness beyond the gate. Two forces now blocked her plan: wandering wind and a bird unwilling to wait.

Instead of chasing the bird, Sara changed her approach. She lowered the easel, spread smooth stones along the paper edges, and waited with brush ready. Minutes passed; the wind kept playing over the grass, yet the pages stayed steady. A soft chirp rose nearby. The sparrow fluttered back and, to her surprise, landed on the tallest stone. That stone reflected a thin pool of water left by morning dew. The tiny visitor splashed inside the mirror-like surface, sending drops across her drawing. Those drops formed gentle circles that matched the bird’s lively wings. Sara traced the circles quickly. Happiness settled over the pasture as the wind eased, and a small feather floated onto the finished page.
