Mila walked along a quiet nature trail after sunset. She wanted to reach a wooden platform near the river. An ancient tree rose beside the platform, its trunk wide. Local elders said the platform honored the town's heritage. Soft moonlight touched leaves, yet deep corners stayed dark. Mila carried a small torch to guide her careful steps. Boards creaked under her shoes as she climbed the structure. One loose plank slid sideways and bumped the next beam. That beam nudged the railing, which rattled against hanging lanterns. Several lanterns swung wildly and hit Mila's arm. Her torch almost dropped into the slow river below.

She caught the torch just before it touched the water. Its light revealed something under the platform. A tiny door waited inside the thick support post. A pulse raced in her neck, and her palm pushed the door. The door opened, releasing a group of small bright frogs. They hopped across the wood and settled among swinging lanterns. Torch glow bounced on their green skin and formed small flashes. Torchlight and frogs' flashes filled the shaky structure with moving color. Mila adjusted the loose plank and the rattling stopped. She sat quietly while the frogs blinked beside her shoes.
