The Frog's Sudden Jump- 適合初級的英語短篇故事

Cool morning light filled the small yard.

A brown dog named Troy sniffed near a green basin. A shiny leaf drifted across the water inside it. Troy wanted the leaf and pushed a paw forward. His leash pulled tight and stopped his body midstep. The basin tilted under the sudden tug. Water poured over the edge and hit warm stone. Small bubble rings spread across the shallow pool. The splash reached a line of dry dust nearby. All of this began to happen in one quick moment. Wet dust turned dark and began to evaporate under sunlight. The metal clip did not respond to Troy's shakes. Meanwhile, the leaf drifted closer, carrying a tiny frog unseen. The frog jumped suddenly and landed on Troy's nose. His ears flattened, and he stepped back; the leash slackened. The loose space let him reach the basin from another side. He leaned over the far rim and touched the leaf. The frog slipped away into grass, and water stilled again. A faint stripe of damp stone stayed dark beside the basin.
