Without standing fully, the badge-wearer opened a portfolio, slipped the envelope inside, and closed it with a click that cut through hallway chatter. Only after rising did the coordinator glance at the sender; a brief nod passed between them, neither voice disturbing the sound of volunteers chasing the last wandering balls. Traffic resumed, folding tables continued their slow journey, and neon arrows overhead pulsed at a calmer pace. A single ping-pong ball rested against a folded chair.
