Lena and the Hidden Window-

Story Content
English Original
Lena has promised herself a painting corner today. The hallway holds one problem: an oak closet blocking the spare room. The closet, which has stood there for years, refuses to move when she pulls. Dust rises, and she can hardly bear the thick smell swirling around her shoes. Even her moderate strength hardly shifts the doors. Cardboard boxes line the narrow pathway behind her. They bump her knees each time she steps back. She has already rolled away carpets and opened every hinge. Still, the wood groans and slides only a few centimeters. Light flickers through the keyhole, suggesting space beyond. She pauses, wipes her forehead, and thinks of another method.
She remembers an old camping blanket stored under the stairs. It has been forgotten, yet its smooth surface could act like a sled. Minutes later, the blanket is pulled flat under the closet. Lena tilts the front edge, allowing weight to rest on colored fabric. Instead of pushing straight, she now drags the bundle sideways. Slow, quiet friction replaces the loud struggle from before. The closet glides, revealing a hidden door-sized window. Cool air spills inside, carrying scents of wet earth and early leaves. Pieces of nature now fill the cramped hall. Outside that window, a narrow garden pathway becomes visible for the first time. The hallway settles, boxes stand neatly again, and sunlight now rests across the cleared floorboards.
Translation
