Cactus Chain- 適合初級的英語短篇故事

Milo balanced a small cactus on a wooden tray. He planned to paint it for tomorrow’s art class. The teacher praised his creative ideas during last week’s lesson. Milo wanted to paint a live plant, not simple paper. His brother Leo watched and offered friendly advice about colors. Milo lifted the tray toward the sunny window across the room. A rolled poster touched his elbow during the careful walk. The tray tilted; the cactus pot bumped a tall water jar.

The jar tipped and splashed blue water on the floor. The wet spot startled their cat, who raced across loose papers. The rushing cat knocked a chair, which bumped the closed door. The door clicked shut, trapping Milo and Leo inside the study. Water spread toward a stack of textbooks near the shelf. Leo grabbed towels, and Milo shifted the tray onto boxes. Their quick cleaning showed solid teamwork and good quality work. When silence returned, the cactus stood upright without one scratch. A single pink flower opened on its crown; their eyes widened. Milo lifted the plant near the window and slid the curtain closed. He switched off the desk lamp.
