Mara Under the Blossoms -

Story Content
English Original
Mara reached the old riverside park just after dawn, tripod balanced on one shoulder. Pale light slid across benches whose paint had peeled through many winters. She aimed to capture the first cherry blossom of the season for a school exhibit, yet a small gathering near the largest tree already blocked the clean line she wanted. The memory card had been cleared, and the battery had been charged the night before, but the best angle had been taken by another visitor. If she had arrived earlier, the space might have been empty.
While she waited, wind lifted delicate petals from higher branches; some drifted across her lens and clung to the glass. She brushed them away, stepped right, and adjusted focus, only to find the crowd shifting again. A pale cat appeared from behind a stone bench, its tail flicking dust. The animal paused, nose twitching at the splendor of scents on the air, then settled beneath the branches. When the people thinned, Mara set the tripod, but the latch on one leg stuck, forcing her to kneel and tap it twice before it clicked.
At last a breeze opened a clear tunnel through the limbs, and new buds seemed to emerge in the growing light. Mara pressed the shutter; just then the cat leaped onto the low trunk, scattering petals in a silent spray. The unexpected movement painted motion across the frame, turning an ordinary study into something lively. She checked the display: the animal’s pale fur contrasted with pink fragments frozen mid-air. No second shot could repeat that timing, so she packed the camera immediately. A pale cat sat motionless on the stone ledge, cherry petals settled around its paws.
Translation
