The Leaf Sail Vanished- 適合初級的英語短篇故事

Cool air moved through the tall trees.

Mia carried a small paper boat to the park. She wanted to improve the boat, so it floated longer. A shallow pond lay near a wooden bench. The child kneeled and placed the boat on the water. A sudden breeze pushed the boat away from her reach. It slid under the bench and bumped a small pebble. The pebble rolled, making her drawing paper fall into water.

Leo walked nearby, holding a long stick from the ground. He saw the splash and offered the stick to Mia. Together they pushed the bench a little and hooked the boat. She asked him to follow the edge while pulling the line. The boat came back, but its paper roof looked crushed. Mia laughed and said, "We can improve it again!" Their science teacher jogged along the path and waved at them. They folded a large leaf and fixed it as a sail. At that moment a duck glided past and grabbed the leaf. The bird paddled away, pulling the surprised boat behind. Ripples spread behind the disappearing duck.
