When the Cup Tipped- 適合初級的英語短篇故事

Liam placed a sweet dog treat on the wooden stool. His puppy, Patch, sniffed and prepared to catch it midair. Cool mist drifted through the open door from the garden. Moist air made the stool top smooth and slightly slippery. Patch jumped early, bumped the stool, and shook the plate. The treat bounced off, struck a metal spoon, and spun. The spoon flipped up, tapping a bright novelty rubber ball nearby. The ball shot across the shelf and nudged a tall cup. The cup wobbled but stayed upright for one long second.

Then the cup tipped, pouring marbles onto the smooth floor. One small marble rolled under Patch’s paw and changed direction. It zipped toward the treat, still spinning beside the stool. Marble and treat touched, and both slid toward the fallen cup. The cup landed over them, blocking further travel across tiles. Patch pawed the overturned cup, but the rim held firm. Liam crouched, noticing the spoon’s surface still shone with newness. He laughed, lifted Patch away, and planned a calmer picture later. Behind them, one last marble rolled along the skirting board.

然後杯子傾倒，滾珠撒滿光滑的地板。一顆小彈珠滾到 Patch 的爪下，方向改變。它衝向仍在凳旁旋轉的點心。彈珠和點心碰在一起，一同朝倒下的杯子滑去。杯子落下，把它們罩住，阻止繼續滑行。Patch 用爪子撥杯子，但杯緣牢牢卡住。Liam 蹲下，注意到湯匙表面依舊閃著新亮光澤。他笑了，把 Patch 抱開，打算稍後再拍安靜的照片。他們身後，最後一顆彈珠沿著踢腳板繼續滾動。
