The Star and the Switch- 適合初級的英語短篇故事

Warm morning light fell across the art table.

Olive carried a small plastic dome toward the center. Inside it, she planned to show bright paper stars. Cole opened a packet of square paper beside her. They would fold each square into a tiny star. Olive and Cole began to interact with the soft paper. Their fingers pinched, turned, and pressed every edge. Soon many colorful stars covered half the table.

Olive lifted the dome to place the first group inside. The packet slipped, and the stars slid across the wood. One yellow star struck the lamp switch and made it ignite. Bright light flashed, and Olive jerked her hand upward. The sudden move tipped the dome toward the table edge. Cole stepped around the chair and caught the dome from below. Olive crouched, gathered the runaway stars, and backed away. They placed the stars under the dome and turned off the lamp. One yellow star still lay beneath the lamp base. A low hum from the lamp filled the quiet space.
