Wet grass cools Ned's knees.

Morning light rests on leaves.

He holds a small plate.

A sweet muffin sits centered.

His sister June draws nearby.

A round planet grows on paper.

Ned walks along the stone path.

A shiny snail trail crosses.

His shoe slips on slime.

The plate tilts toward ground.

Ned kneels fast, steadying it now.

Not one crumb drops down.

"Close," he says, and exhales.

He lifts a flat stone.

Dark wet earth shows underneath.

He sets the stone aside.

He slides the plate nearby.

Next, he shakes a dry pod.

Tiny seeds scatter like sand.

He gathers seeds in cupped palm.

He pours them back inside.

He returns the flat stone.

The dark patch hides again.

He lifts the plate carefully.

One last crumb sticks stubbornly.

He brushes it onto plate.

He brings it to June.

"Come see," he calls softly.

June stands and follows Ned.

A light breeze flips her page.

The planet drawing wobbles slightly.

Both children walk toward kitchen.

Grass blades sway behind them.

They slip indoors and disappear.
