A green car rolls slowly across the soft mat. Dana kneels near the low shelf. The room is bright. She places flat blocks in a neat line. The line forms a small path. A round block shaped like a hive sits nearby. Dana tries to connect it to the path. The path tilts. Car stops. A group of tiny cars waits behind. Haida calls, “Block!” A spinning top wobbles. It bumps the hive block. The block slides sideways. Dana and Haida look at the tilted path.

Dana lifts the hive block. She sets it by the mat edge. She removes the tall block from the line. She slides a thin block instead. The path now lies flat. The green car moves again. Dana gathers the blocks. She returns each one to the box. The mat looks clear. Light touches a faint dent beside the hive block. She nudges the green car again. It rolls forward.
