Jonas leaned against the window-post, wiping moisture from his sleeve; his voice carried little more than a murmur. "Silk smells like wet leaves today." The remark floated away, stirring nothing but the dust that rested in seams of the tabletop. Yves dipped the pick, touched the cocoon’s curve, and a faint ridge lifted, silver when angled toward the sun. The cocoon itself shrank, walls peeling in translucent curls, and the water brightened around it.
