The dark edge turns pale.
Grit shows along the rim.
By the flat rock, the father sits.

A folded napkin lifts slightly.
It carries clean laundry smell.
Stella tilts back to the rim.
Under the log, a small puddle thins.

Its edge pulls into mud.
A slow drip taps less now.
She looks back at the rock.
Only a thin pale rim stays.
On a low branch, a green bud sits.
A crab spider rests on it.
