"The small bell hangs by the shelf."
Lyle padded across the rug and hopped onto the table. Cool tile pressed his pads before his jump. Papers shifted under his paws on the smooth wood. Lyle lifted one paw and spread his toes. One sheet held a sketch of lightning and a plan. It slid toward the edge and bent a corner.
The bent corner nudged a loose pencil near the rim. The pencil rolled and tapped a small timer device. The device rested on a thin book at the edge. The book tilted slightly, and the device began to slide. It bumped the bell cord, and the brass bell gave one chime. The sheet dropped and fluttered down beside Lyle's tail.
