Under it, white fibres show.
She sets it back flat.
The row makes a color scale.
A small bank of scraps sits.
She lifts one light scrap.
Cool ceramic waits under it.
She places the scrap back.
She raises the glue cap.
A clear glue ring stays under.
Glue dries.
The grandmother says, "This edge is white."
She sets the cap down.
She lifts one new strip.
Another strip sticks to it.
A soft snap comes as they part.
She slides a nail between them.
One strip lies back flat.
A pale fog is on the glass.
The cap covers the clear ring.
