Kaya's palm rests on the smooth table.
Her fingers grip a short green crayon.
A raised wax line shines on the paper.
A blank corner waits near her hand.
Light falls.
The mother sits beside her and draws.
A long crayon lies on the mother's page.
She says, "I draw a round shape."
A faint wax smell hangs near the box.
Kaya looks at the blank corner.
She draws a thin green stem.
Wax glistens.
The tip bumps the older wax line.
The mark wobbles on the smooth sheet.
Kaya turns the paper a little.
She shifts her grip lower.
Her sleeve brushes the box lid.
The lid makes a click on wood.
One drip slides down the cool glass.
It falls on the coaster and sits.
Kaya draws five small petals now.
She adds a round orange swirl.
A small flower rests in the corner.
The fresh swirl cools on the page.
