Morning air feels cool and damp.
A drip from the metal tank plinks.
Cool water dots her hair.
She stays still.
A dark seed pod bounces on her shoulder.
It rolls down onto her sleeve.
Next, one grain of bird feed drops.
It rests on her open palm.
A long plastic ruler slides off the step.
The edge taps her shoe.
Clack! Small sound echoes on stone.
An ant hikes along the ruler.
It steps onto her toe.
Kaya lifts nothing; she watches.
The ant crosses the feed crumb.
Crumb stays.
The ant reaches the gate gap.
The ant vanishes under the gate.
