Felix in the Green Halls-

English 原文
Morning haze still clung to the botanical garden when Felix stepped under the ivy arch that marked the entrance to its seasonal hedge labyrinth. Moist soil compressed beneath his shoes, releasing a faint earthen smell. Children chased one another near the ticket booth, yet the woven corridors ahead remained hushed. Felix lifted a pocket notebook; a half-drawn sketch of the central fountain waited on the top page, offering a simple objective: match paper to reality before the noon bell. He set the pencil behind his ear and entered, counting paces as green walls closed around him. Sunlight sliced through gaps, leaving shifting rectangles across the gravel.
The first junction presented three corridors of equal width. Felix turned left, then paused when a mirror fragment flashed on the path, reflecting a patch of sky between branches. The shard’s edge looked peculiar, trimmed into a neat hexagon. Pocketing the glass, he advanced. At the next bend his sleeve snagged a thorn that protruded beyond the clipped surface; threads stretched until a quick twist freed the fabric, sending trimmed twigs fluttering onto the stones. Footsteps whispered on the other side of the hedge, hinting at other visitors tracing their own trajectories inside what felt like a cognitive maze built for wandering minds as much as wandering feet.
A faint metallic grind drifted overhead. Felix looked up; thin steel cables ran across wooden poles above the greenery. Panels of hedge, mounted on hidden frames, slid sideways along the wires in measured bursts. The discovery rearranged his earlier assumptions: the labyrinth moved while people walked. He followed the sound until a low wooden gate rotated inward by mechanical timing, revealing a clearing. In its center stood a circular plinth; weather-worn bricks formed its foundation, and an antique wheel rested beside, linked to the cables. Behind the wheel a gardener wiped sweat with a sleeve and turned a second crank, sending another wall gliding until pathways shifted like oversized clock hands.
Felix waited, tracking the rhythm of the wheel—three turns, brief pause, another three. When the pause arrived again, he slipped through an opening before the hedge could slide back. The detour brought him to a raised terrace on the garden’s far side. From that height the entire design revealed itself: concentric rings of foliage arranged in chronological order, youngest saplings near the center, ancient yews forming the outermost guard. Wind died away, and distant chimes marked noon just as Felix sketched the final lines of his fountain. Shaped hedges stood motionless around the quiet terrace.
