Milo gripped the rope tied to the blue cooler and faced the wide beach. His family gathering had spread blankets near the rocks. Smoke from a small grill drifted above them. A wheel was buried in deep sand, and the cooler jolted sideways. He steadied it; yet a sudden gust swept a kite string across his path and tangled his feet. The rope snapped with a sharp pop, and the cooler dropped, scattering wet marks on the sand. Milo glanced around and spotted a skateboard that waited near a dune. He set the cooler on its wheels, then pushed again; the board glided smoothly. At the blanket, he opened the lid, expecting cold bottles ready to enjoy. Instead, bright seashells filled the space, stacked in careful rows like tiny roofs. Gasps rose from cousins nearby as they noticed the mistake. The missing drinks rested in a second cooler that had been hidden behind the grill. A quick swap followed, and orange liquid finally splashed into cups. Glow from the low sun touched the water as Milo placed the correct cooler beside the grill.
