Waltz Under The Hall Lights-

English 原文
Soft strings rolled across the community hall as Lenora paused beneath the doorway. Her blazer brushed against her elbow bag, and her shoes had been polished until they caught the light. The gathering was billed as an informal networking evening, yet a slow waltz drifted through the space instead of idle chatter. Lenora’s observable goal stood ten metres away: a tall man arranging name cards on a table. He chose partners for a future design project, and she hoped to show a sample that proved her expertise. She stepped forward, hesitant at first, but a spinning couple veered across her path and pushed her gently back.
She tried circling the dance floor by hugging the wall. Swaying pairs blocked the narrow edge, forcing her shoulders against cool plaster. Next she aimed straight through the centre, counting beats so her steps matched the waltz. For a moment the experiment worked, yet a sudden dip sent elbows flying; her folder slipped and scattered glossy prints. Knees bent, she gathered the pages, only to notice the organiser already moving toward the buffet. If she had stayed near the doorway, she would have missed the chance, so she adjusted again. Lenora had spent weeks practising footwork videos; now she copied a graceful half-turn, merged with the rhythm, and glided after him.
A space opened near the punch bowl where the music eased. Lenora extended a print toward the organiser just as he reached for a ladle. The paper corner brushed his sleeve, arresting his motion; eyes widened at the bright pattern. He lifted the sheet, inspected each angle, then tapped the logo with interest while other dancers drifted by. No directive words passed between them; the design itself carried the message. Ten minutes later, conversation hushed and the last chord faded, leaving only cooling air across the parquet. Two dance cards and a pair of polished shoes rested beside the silent stereo.
