English 原文
A striped cat padded along the quiet street at nightfall. Steam rose through an open window and mixed with the smell of toasted bread. The animal crouched under a table that stood on the outside terrace of a small cafe. Inside, chairs scraped the tiled floor while plates clicked against cups. Many crumbs have already fallen to the ground tonight, but a swinging door kept paws outside. A heater has been fixed to the wall behind the tables; its light metal guard glowed orange. A waiter moved across the room, ready to serve late guests. His shoes tapped near the doorway. Each step pushed the door partly open, then it swung back and closed again.
After several passes the cat pressed its shoulder against the wooden panel during a longer pause. The gap widened enough. Paws slid over smooth tiles, but a fresh mop left the surface slick. The cat skidded, and a ceramic cup, standing on a low tray, wobbled. The cup rolled from the waiter’s tray, milk forming a thin trail across the floor. Startled, the waiter spun; the tray tilted upward, creating a narrow bridge. The cat scrambled up the slanted metal, away from the spreading milk. It landed beside a heater that gave steady warm air. Crumbs that had clung to the tray now lay beside the heater. Whiskers brushed the pieces, jaws worked, and the tail twitched once. Plates continued to clatter while the rolling cup settled under a chair.
