Shadow Across the Concourse-

English 原文
Glass framed the roof of Halbrook Station, and Mira angled her steps toward the tallest pane. She carried a narrow sheet of smoked plastic between two fingers, intent on catching the afternoon eclipse before the shadow moved on. Below, the concourse pulsed with rolling suitcases, echoing voices, and the metallic chirp of departure boards.
The first stairway proved blocked by a service cart wedged sideways. Mira changed course, pressing through travelers who had stopped to photograph the vaulted ceiling. A broad revolving door at the next exit paused halfway around; grit and age had begun to ossify the lower gear, so the panels stalled. She placed a palm against the glass, pushed twice, and the circle jolted back into motion. Beyond it, a narrow maintenance ladder climbed toward the observation deck.
Halfway up, a sudden hush drifted through the building. The sun’s disk slipped behind the moon, and daylight thinned into copper dusk. Station lights flickered but stayed off, surprised by the drop in brightness. As the shadow deepened, flocks of pigeons emerged from the rafters, circling once before settling on iron beams. The moment felt like choreography crafted by chance: a silent spectacle unfolding inside a structure built for noise.
At the deck, Mira stepped onto the grated platform. Smoke-gray twilight poured over the glass tiles beneath her boots. Through the smoked plastic, the hidden crescent glowed, rimmed by threads of fire. She lowered the filter, and the concourse far below revealed its own drama. Travelers had halted mid-stride; some held phones aloft, others simply stared upward while muted alarms blinked unanswered above the gates. For less than two minutes, movement across the floor slowed until bodies resembled statues cast in living bronze.
A sliver of sunlight escaped the moon’s edge, thrown like a blade through the station. Gold beams fractured on pillars, raced across tiles, and startled the pigeons back into flight. Bags rolled again, voices rose, and the everyday hum returned, layering itself over waning twilight. Light rested on the tiled floor near her shoes.
