Bending the Lantern's Hidden Rib-

English 原文
Wire ribs circled Vesper’s lantern for three full panels, while the fourth still gaped open like a missing tooth. He paused near the reflection pond, thighs tightening after the long walk from the craft table. Slowly, he slipped his thumb inside the gap, feeling the cold wire press against his nail. Earlier, several delicate heirloom globes had been suspended above the paste pots by the festival curator. Their perfect symmetry still echoed in his mind, and compared with them, his own star looked crooked. He pinched the thin wire, rotated his wrist, and pressed, sensing the metal yield a finger-width before springing back. The lantern rocked on its dowel, its weight pulling against the joints, and the dull coloured reflections on the pond skated sideways. A flicker of distant lightning flashed beyond the treetops, brightening the skewed frame for a moment, then dusk wrapped the path again. With a silent vow sealed behind clenched teeth, he tried once more, but the bend refused to stay straight.
Steps later, the same tilt returned, and the lantern’s lowest point brushed his knee lightly whenever the breeze pushed again. A whip-poor-will burst into song from the shadows, the call jerking his elbow and almost spinning the star into the water. Catching his balance again, he slid the wooden dowel under the stubborn rib like a lever. He braced the stick against his palm and let his shoulders drop, drawing a slow breath to steady himself. The wire finally gave with a soft rasp, not a snap, and then it held. The lantern now floated square to the ground, its five points evenly spaced in the wavering mirror below. The battery light glimmered evenly through the repaired panel, and a smear of paste shone faintly where his fingers had spread it. A thin ribbon of sugar and smoke from the grilled-corn stall stayed in the air after he moved on.
