Scratches in the Tide Pool Rock-

English 原文
Dashiel skimmed his palm over the warmed granite beside the tide pool, tracing the slight rim of dried salt that circled yesterday’s watermark. Rarely had the basin appeared so placid, the surface trembling only when a distant wave struck the outer shelf. Tatiana knelt opposite him, her knees resting on a folded jacket, and dipped a fingertip, sending concentric rings gliding toward the anemones. A white gull, balanced on the farther ridge, tilted its head, measuring them with one bright bead of an unblinking eye.
A hermit crab shuffled across a ledge, its borrowed shell catching an iridescent wink whenever sunlight slid through the water, letting the spectrum unfold. No trumpet or fanfare greeted the tiny parade, yet Dashiel lifted his head as though expecting sound, then laughed softly at the silence. “Quiet afternoon for shorelings,” Tatiana murmured across the rippling mirror, her voice catching on the salt. Behind his laugh, Tatiana noticed thin scratches along the inner wall of the pool where algae once blanketed the rock. Water slowly seeped over them in slow, cascading sheets, each spill pausing before sliding downward again.
She leaned closer, breath rippling the surface, and marked how the scratches converged, almost straight, toward a darker hollow beneath an overhang. Her shadow stretching across the pool, the water brightened around its edges and revealed a tideline of chipped shells heaped in that hollow. Only then did she trace the scratches back to a single point where a barnacle had broken away, leaving a clean triangular bite in the stone. Something about the angle of the bite matched the shells below, and the pattern settled into place like an overlooked artifact no bigger than a coin. Dashiel reached for a pebble to pry further, paused, and set it aside, the ripple from his hand quieting before it touched the opposite rim.
They both shifted their weight back onto their heels, and the anemones resumed a slow sway, as though the pool were breathing again after brief interruption. Tatiana folded the jacket, wiping stray droplets along the fabric, while Dashiel watched the chips of shell quiver in a new, gentle oscillation. The reason the scratches caught her attention at last was the ebbing light curling beneath the overhang, lowering the glare she had always taken for granted. Beyond the shelf, another wave struck and a single droplet arced high, hung for a heartbeat, then fell. Her wrist hovered for a quiet, unhurried moment above the grainy rock, still damp.
