Resin Drips onto the Treehouse Pulley -

English 原文
Sticky sap and sliced apples scented the wooden platform as Poppy climbed the short ladder.
Sunrise sent a warm stripe across the planks, and steam curled from her metal flask.
She planned a small picnic and unpacked cloth, cups, and a bright tin shaped like a squirrel.
Beside her, Otto rested an antique brass compass on the railing, studying its tarnished lid.
He lifted it again and again, hoping afternoon polish might loosen the stiff hinge.
Neither child spoke for a minute; light rustled through leaves, and warmth spread along the rail.
Resin on the roof softened under the steady heat, turning glossy and beginning a slow downward crawl.
A soft crackle drifted from distant bark where trapped moisture met the climbing warmth.
Poppy filled two mugs; faint steam touched her cheeks, then drifted outside the rail.
She eased the pulley bucket upward, planning to pack sandwiches that waited on the grass.
At the same moment, the glossy resin reached the pulley wheel and coated its wooden rim.
The sticky coat slowed the rope, yet sunlight kept feeding heat, and more sap followed.
Otto noticed the sudden drag, placed the compass aside, and gripped the rope with both hands.
His palms slid against fresh warmth on the fibers, leaving amber streaks across his skin.
He laughed, "The tree painted me," and wiped his hand on a spare cloth.
They lowered the bucket again and waited, letting the resin cool before lifting the heavier pack.
Below, sun warmed the sandwiches, and a thin sheen of melted cheese slid across the wrapping.
While they waited, Otto tapped the compass again, and the hinge shifted with a soft click.
Poppy grinned, sliding the squirrel tin toward him so crumbs stayed away from the metal parts.
Above their heads, sap cooled into thin amber ridges, and the bucket rope regained its easy slide.
Far below, a cloud passed, dulling the beam that had heated the roof.
Light settled on the quiet bucket.
