English 原文
Every ride, Sara set both palms on the smooth boat rim in the same spots.
Today a damp oval, the print of a small shoe, darkened the fiberglass there.
She hovered a finger above it, then lowered until skin met cool moisture, outlining its edge.
"There it is again," she said, voice low under the pump’s steady thrum and the clack of a distant roller.
The narrow channel nudged the log forward, its hull scraping the guide rail with a low hollow sound that traveled through the seat.
Beyond the curve, murals wore thin places where thousands of glances had skated; a deer’s flank looked rubbed to softness, flakes catching light.
At the loading platform the first bench had sat empty, reserved by a looped chain and a cone, and pale water marks ringed the floorboards.
A janitor’s cart rattled across the observation bridge; a squeegee handle flashed bright with wear where many hands had held it.
The boat rode a raised seam in the channel, jolting her hand free from the oval before she meant to trace the heel.
Water smell sharpened — chlorine and wet concrete — and the air cooled as the tunnel roof lowered, painted stone meeting sky in a seam overhead.
She drew her shoulders back against the ribbed seat, knowing the bow would lift, tip, and press her spine into the fiberglass before the splash.
Under the boards, she could hear a hidden cistern slosh once, the pumps pulling at its surface with a rhythm she could not see.
The drop arrived and the fan of droplets rose in twin curtains; bright pins tapped her cheeks, and her sleeve swiped a wet line beneath one eye.
In the calm that followed, the boat rocked and the mark had blurred into a pale ring, not a shoe now, but a tide line hugging the curve.
She leaned toward the sunlight at the tunnel’s mouth, tilting the rim enough for beads to slide; the water released a faint mineral smell.
The cuff of her shirt pressed lightly; residue lifted; thin lines remained like veins, as if a leaf had once rested there and left its map.
She paused with her hand mid-wipe, then let the pattern stay, choosing the next bump of the rail over a clean patch no one would notice.
Behind them the front bench that had been reserved earlier dripped steadily, each drop darkening the same spot on the floor until it widened and faded.
The rim, where she began, showed a fine scratch she had missed before; she set her wet thumb on it and felt the shallow groove.
