The Rolling Marble- 適合初級的英語短篇故事

Lucas carried a small candle up the wooden stairs. He wanted to find his missing silver toy train. The attic hardly received daylight through the narrow window. A sheet of blue felt covered the nearest storage box. Mia followed behind and spoke in a slow, calm tone. They talked about memories while dust swirled around their shoes. Lucas placed the candle on the box and lifted the felt.

A sudden draft pushed through the window near the rafters. The flame bent sideways, dripping wax on the box. Lucas jerked back; his elbow bumped a narrow wooden shelf. Three glass marbles rolled off and bounced across the boards. One marble tapped the latch, snapping the rusty catch loose. The lid sprang open as dust spiralled into light. Silver metal shone; the lost train rested on cards. Lucas closed the window and steadied the candle. He carefully carried the small train downstairs.
