English 원문
The aquarium lights dimmed for the night program, and Lev, a marine-biology researcher, strode into the transparent access tunnel that curved beneath the largest tank. He carried a tablet that displayed a pale line, the calculated trajectory of a manta ray tagged earlier that week. Water pressed against the glass like moving midnight; silver fish drifted around him, scattering whenever his shadow crossed their path. A soft rumble from filtration pumps echoed overhead, and Lev quickened his pace, aiming to reach a control panel before the pumps altered the current too much for reliable data.
Halfway through, a sudden vibration shook the tunnel. The tablet slipped from his hand, clattered on the floor, and slid toward a drainage grate. Lev lunged, knees grazing the smooth surface. His palm landed on the screen just in time; the graph held steady, but a stylus bounced away, tapped the glass, and startled a school of jacks. They wheeled in a tight spiral, forcing Lev to navigate around their darting shadows to regain balance. Water turbulence outside the tunnel spread, tilting clusters of floating debris that brushed against overhead lights and stained them with shifting lace-like patterns.
The lights flickered again, brighter this time. A projector in the ceiling—linked to the planetarium exhibit above—had activated by mistake, spilling an image of a distant quasar across the curved walls. Violet and amber rings rippled through the water, confusing the fish and throwing jagged reflections onto Lev’s tablet. Sensor readings spiked as the animals regrouped in unfamiliar formations, their bodies shimmering like living pixels. Lev tapped commands, recalibrated exposure, and watched the new patterns emerge. Each shift in color altered the flow of the crowd; tails overlapped, broke apart, and realigned until the shoal mirrored the luminous spiral rolling overhead.
An automated timer eventually shut the projector, and ordinary blue illumination returned. The fish loosened their formation, drifted back to routine feeding lanes, and the earlier turbulence flattened into gentle waves. Lev exhaled, tucked the stylus into his pocket, and checked the tablet once more; the manta line still tracked true. He stood, brushed droplets from his sleeves, and continued toward the control panel while the tunnel settled behind him. Blue light rested on the curved glass.
