Luis gripped his camera bag as the rooftop door clicked open. He had planned this visit for weeks, aiming to capture unusual city colors. The last elevator had been taken by visitors carrying snacks and balloons. A line of people, which curved like a river, blocked the narrow path between flowerpots. The sun slid lower, and brightness spilled across one tall cactus near the rail. That cactus, covered with tiny white blooms, looked beautiful against the limitless blue above. Luis stepped sideways, yet a suitcase bumped his knee and shook the premium lens in his hand. His battery light flashed red, showing only minutes of power remained while the crowd held its place.

A sudden breeze lifted a glossy poster from a distant table and sent it spinning. The sheet skidded along the tiles, startling people and opening a clear gap beside the railing. Luis has taken thousands of photos, but none like the scene now unfolding. Seeing space, he darted forward; the sunset brushed buildings with last fiery light. He crouched low, letting the railing frame the cactus, and pressed the shutter once. A tiny sparrow landed on the lens cap, shaking the camera and blurring the photograph. The bird lifted again, and its shadow stretched across glass tiles, merging with the cactus outline. That shadow spread across the floor, filling it with unexpected splendor that the sensor still caught. The battery died after the click; the preview froze, showing the mirrored shapes glowing like liquid gold. The screen dimmed, yet the captured image stayed bright, resting in his hands under the quiet sky.
