Leo holds a short ladder. The ladder stands under the attic. A bright kite hangs inside. Leo climbs the first rung. The ladder shakes a little. Its top stops below the hatch. A cool draft moves past. One dry leaf drifts down. The leaf taps Leo's shoulder. Leo looks at a wide box. He slides the box closer. Now the gap appears smaller. Leo steps on the box. He climbs again and grasps string. The kite slides to his chest. A soft wind waves the kite. Its tail knocks dust away. Air above the hatch stays clear. Leo stands on the floor again. The quiet room stays clear.
