Sweet smells from the oven mixed with fresh evening air.

Sudden knocking echoed, followed by a long, low groan. Tim froze; the sound reminded him of a slow zombie. He stepped forward and slipped on the forgotten feather. The cake tray flew, hit a broom, and rattled chairs. The broom toppled and flipped the light switch to off. Darkness covered the hall, and the groan grew louder. The door opened, revealing Leo in a green zombie mask. He laughed and lifted a box of bright candies. Tim laughed too and waved him toward the warm kitchen. Together they picked up the cakes from the floor.
