English 원문
Mira lifted her heavy harp onto a low riser in the city atrium, fingers pressing each string to check the pitch. Mid-afternoon light slanted through the glass ceiling, laying bright rectangles across the marble. A small crowd idled near the cafes, drawn by the prospect of an early performance. Across the hall, Leo wheeled in a cart stacked with metal music stands and a glossy brass cornet; the venue calendar had listed his jazz trio for the same hour. Their booking sheets never met, so the two sets of equipment now sat in awkward juxtaposition: golden harp curves against straight chrome legs, soft strings against instruments built for brass bursts.
Mira tried sliding her riser a half-meter left, yet one wheel jammed against a grout line and refused to budge. Leo crouched, lifted the corner, and the platform rolled free on the second push. While he steadied it, his cornet mouthpiece brushed a string, releasing a delicate harmonic. Heads turned; curiosity rippled among the onlookers. Instead of retreating, Leo lifted the horn again, echoing the tone in unison. The atrium’s high roof answered with a clear resonance. Without a word, Mira opened her repertoire with a slow arpeggio. Leo followed, weaving short blue notes between her rising patterns. A child clapped; a barista froze mid-pour, foam piling above a cup.
By the third chorus, passers-by formed a loose semicircle. Shoppers leaned over balconies; elevators paused with doors ajar. Mira altered her rhythm, letting wide, harp-struck chords juxtapose the brisk snap of Leo’s improvisation. Their sounds threaded through footsteps, cash registers, and distant traffic until the hubbub fell into a breathless hush. The unexpected duet ended as a security guard’s radio crackled for closing checks. Mira released a final glissando, and Leo matched it with a held note that slid downward like evening light.
The final chord hung beneath the glass roof and shimmered over still marble.
