If Leo had carried a ladder, the task would have ended quickly. Instead, he dragged a wooden crate closer, climbed onto it, and tried again. The crate rocked; his fingers tightened around the camera, and the frame wobbled. Maya steadied the box, then sketched the outline she could see. A cloud drifted across the roof gap, muting the brightness. The moment the light softened, Leo captured another image. Maya tapped the crack with the blunt end of her pencil. A tinny click echoed, and a scrap of folded paper slid from behind the keystone before fluttering to the floor.
