When Foam Jumped- 適合初級的英語短篇故事

Warm afternoon light fell across the small yard. Milo acted like a young scientist and loved small tests. Today he set an experiment on the wooden table. A clay volcano held white baking soda and red paint. He wanted foam to burst and push a toy boat downstream. He poured vinegar yesterday, but the bottle now sat empty. The sun dried the mixture before anything could move.

Milo started an exploration of the shed for fresh liquid. Shelves held paint, nails, and one dusty lemon. Ants formed a dark trail and wandered between boards. Their tiny feet nudged the lemon until it rolled near Milo. The fruit cracked, and juice dripped into his measuring cup. He hurried back, poured the juice into the volcano top. The quick meeting of lemon juice and soda sent foam sideways. A white spray leapt, soaked the toy boat, and painted Milo's shoes. Water from the gutter carried the boat across the bright grass. Milo laughed, raised his hands, and watched the colored river travel. The volcano hissed, then settled to a quiet, wet mound.
