When the Bottle Rolled- 適合初級的英語短篇故事

Milo spread a small map on a flat rock. He wished to trace a walking path around the island. Sunlight warmed his shoulders and bright water moved nearby. A generous gust lifted the map before he could mark it. He jumped forward, but the sheet already left the rock. It fluttered over the gray pebbles and turned around twice. Milo chased it, his footsteps tapping fast on the stone.

The paper drifted, hit his water bottle, and tipped it over. The bottle rolled down the rock and struck a loose shell. The shell slid, bumped a pebble line, and started a tiny tumble. Pebbles skipped into a shallow pool and splashed cold drops upward. Water soaked the corner of the paper and darkened the lines. Wet sand clogged the path, halting the stones at the pool edge. Milo pressed one shoe against the rolling bottle and stopped it. He folded the damp map and placed a heavier shell on top. Beside him, leftover ripples spread across the pool toward deeper sand.
